Why Feiyue shoes?
My personal preference, as far as mobility, movement flow and bodyweight training are concerned is to practice barefoot. However a lot of gyms do not allow this practice and require the use of trainers. The next best option, therefore, are minimalist shoes with Vibram Fivefingers being a popular choice, particularly with crossfitters. Fivefingers and other minimalist trainers are a somewhat expensive option however, and this is where Feiyue shoes shine. Mine cost £10 online -about US $15- a good fifth of the price of Vibrams and other similar trainers.

Most of my focus in recent years has been centered on bodyweight strength training and the running of http://wwwStartBodyweight.com, a website that has quickly established itself as a go-to point of reference for the rapidly growing bodyweight tribe! I have also been working with a range of athletes from a variety of backgrounds.
As an ex-high level athlete myself, I have come to increasingly realize the importance of strength and mobility work for injury prevention, as this is perhaps the single most important factor in building a successful sporting career.
I am currently working on a long overdue programme based on the Start Bodyweight website, to be published as an e-book and paperback later on this year, whilst still dabbling in video and film work.
My own practice has gradually evolved from being an athlete focused on performance, to gym-based fitness training, before increasingly focusing on movement and mobility. As such my training draws its inspiration from various arts and disciplines such as gymnastics, circus skills, parkour, calisthenics, lifting, and martial arts. With my young years now long behind me, I am still constantly discovering new ways of moving and experiencing my body in motion. Ironically perhaps, I am far stronger, more mobile and more flexible than the 20 year old athlete I once was!
